While at Montana State working toward my BFA in metalsmithing, I discovered I also had a passion for photography and visual arts. I decided to pursue an additional degree in photography, which ultimately lead to learning Adobe Photoshop and then Adobe Illustrator and InDesign. Here is a small sample of my photography. I most enjoy taking macro photos of insects and other tiny organisms and the micro-landscapes they inhabit. Occasionally I photograph other wildlife as well.
Nature Spider
I came across this scrap of newsprint left over from someone's bon fire on the beach. I loved the way the charred edges framed the word nature. As I was setting up to take my photo this little spider ran up the paper and paused just for a second, just long enough for me to snap a photo of him before he ran off to do whatever beach spiders do.
